    Technologies like solar, wind, and hydropower can replace fossil fuels, offering a cleaner and more sustainable energy supply.

    This transition not only helps combat global warming but also offers benefits like reduced air and water pollution, improved energy access, and stronger energy security. 

 how renewable energy can be used for environmental control:-

1) Mitigating Climate Change:-
Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions:-
    Renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydropower, produce little to no greenhouse gas emissions during operation, unlike fossil fuels. This is crucial for reducing the atmospheric concentration of gases like carbon dioxide, which trap heat and contribute to global warming. 

Limiting Temperature Rise:-
    By transitioning to renewable energy, the world can significantly reduce the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere, helping to limit the rise in global temperatures and mitigate the worst impacts of climate change. 

2. Reducing Pollution:-
Air Pollution:-
   Burning fossil fuels releases pollutants like particulate matter and sulfur dioxide, which can cause respiratory problems and other health issues. Renewable energy technologies, such as solar and wind, have minimal air emissions, leading to cleaner air. 
Water Pollution:-
  Some conventional energy sources, like coal-fired power plants, can cause water pollution through thermal discharge and coal ash. Renewable energy sources, especially those that don't rely on combustion, have a lower impact on water quality. 

Land Degradation:-
   Renewable energy projects, like solar farms and wind farms, can sometimes have impacts on land use. However, these impacts can be minimized through careful site selection and land management practices.

 Renewable energy can provide energy access to remote and underserved areas, where extending traditional power grids is often expensive and challenging.

 The renewable energy sector creates jobs in manufacturing, installation, operation, and maintenance, contributing to local economies.
Energy Security:-
 Relying on diverse sources of renewable energy can improve a nation's energy security by reducing dependence on volatile global fossil fuel markets. 
 As on june 2025,
 India has achieved 235.7 GW of installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources, comprising 226.9 GW of renewable energy and 8.8 GW of nuclear power. This accounts for 49% of the country's total installed power generation capacity of 476 GW, India ranks 4th globally in renewable energy installed capacity, wind power, and solar power capacity.
