Gujarat has achieved a significant milestone in renewable energy, positioning itself as a leader in India's green energy transition. Key achievements include massive capacity additions in solar and wind power and pioneering grid integration projects.

Key Achievements of the Gujarat Grid
Massive Renewable Capacity :-
As of August 2025, Gujarat's total renewable energy capacity reached approximately 39,275.7 MW. The state added a record 6,632 MW of new green power capacity between April and August 2025 alone.
India's Largest Renewable Energy Park ;-
Gujarat is home to the world's largest hybrid renewable energy park in Khavda, Kutch district. This massive project spans 72,600 hectares with a planned capacity of 30 GW through a combination of solar and wind energy, designed to power 18 million homes.
Pioneering Solar Initiatives :-
Gujarat was the first state in India to announce a comprehensive solar power policy in 2009 and the first to establish a solar park (Charanka Solar Park). It leads the nation in total installed rooftop solar capacity.

Grid Modernization and Storage:-
The state is upgrading its transmission and distribution network with new substations and has secured agreements for 1,192 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS) to help manage the intermittent nature of renewable supply and ensure grid stability.
Fully Solar-Powered Villages -
Dhordo, a village recognized by the UNWTO as the "Best Tourism Village," recently became Gujarat's fourth fully solar-powered village under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, demonstrating successful decentralized generation.
Strategic Vision:-
Gujarat has launched "Mission 100 GW of Renewable Energy in Gujarat," an ambitious goal to install 100 GW of renewable capacity by 2030, reinforcing its role as a clean energy hub and supporting India's national target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity.
