Photosynthesis:-
 Plants capture solar energy, converting CO2CO sub 2CO2 and water into sugars (chemical energy).
Conversion: -
This stored energy is released when biomass is processed:
Combustion:-
 Burned directly for heat or to create steam for turbines (electricity).
Fermentation/Digestion: -
Microbes break down organic matter to produce biofuels (ethanol, biodiesel) or biogas (methane).
Waste-to-Energy:-
 Landfill gas (methane) and sewage are captured and used for energy. 
Sources (Feedstocks) 
Wood & Forestry:-
 Firewood, wood chips, sawdust, forest residues.
Agricultural: -
Crop residues (corn stalks, sugarcane bagasse), purpose-grown energy crops (switchgrass, algae).
Waste: -
Municipal solid waste (paper, food scraps), animal manure, sewage.
