Uttar Pradesh (UP) is rapidly emerging as a key player in India's renewable energy sector, aiming for 22 GW of solar power by 2026-27 and 32 GW by 2030. The state is focusing on large-scale solar parks, rooftop solar expansion, and green energy initiatives, supported by policies aimed at achieving a $1 trillion economy. Key initiatives include the development of 3,565 MW in the Bundelkhand region and making Ayodhya a model solar city.

Key Aspects of UP's Role in Renewable Energy:
Solar Power Leadership:-
Uttar Pradesh is the third-largest solar energy producer in India, supported by ambitious rooftop solar schemes and large-scale, utility-level projects.
Targeted Solar Policies: -
The Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy 2022 aims for 22,000 MW capacity, including 14 GW of utility-scale projects and 13.5 lakh solar-powered households.
Key Infrastructure Development: -
The state is investing in green energy corridors, including nearly INR 17,965 Cr for Phase II, and developing solar parks in regions like Bundelkhand.
Green Energy Initiatives:
Model Solar Cities: -
Ayodhya is being developed as a model solar city, with plans for replication in 16 other municipal corporations and Noida.
PM-KUSUM Scheme: -
The state aims to add 2,000 MW of solar capacity for agricultural use, reducing reliance on diesel pumps.
Bioenergy & Green Hydrogen:-
The Bio Energy Policy 2022 offers incentives for bio-CNG and waste-to-energy plants, alongside investments in green hydrogen projects.
Investment & Partnerships: -
With over $6 billion in investment opportunities, the state has formed joint ventures with organizations like NHPC, THDCIL, and SECI.
Incentives: Subsidies of ₹30,000 per consumer for rooftop solar, and up to ₹2.5 Crore per MW for storage-enabled projects, are provided.
Uttar Pradesh is positioning itself as a hub for clean energy to meet rising demand through sustainable initiatives.
