Critical Mineral Expansion
The Locations: -
Processing plants are slated for Odisha, Gujarat, Telangana, and Maharashtra.
The Purpose: -
To develop robust domestic value chains for 30 critical minerals, directly supporting strategic sectors like defense, semiconductors, and EVs.
Strategic Shift: -
Aims to break the near-monopoly China currently holds in rare earth separation, processing, and magnet manufacturing.
Land & Logistics: -
State governments have already allotted land for the projects. The selected states were explicitly chosen to leverage their direct sea-port access for smoother global mineral logistics.
