Europe's largest industrial carbon capture and storage facility is located at the Yara Sluiskil ammonia and fertilizer plant in Sluiskil, Zeeland, the Netherlands. Opened in September 2026 by Norwegian fertilizer company Yara International, the plant captures carbon emissions directly from industrial production.

Key Details
Capacity: -
Liquefies up to 800,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually.
Process:-
 CO₂ is captured from ammonia manufacturing and liquefied on-site.
Transport & Storage: -
Ships transport the liquefied carbon to Norway, where the Northern Lights project injects it 2.6 kilometer beneath the North Sea seabed for permanent storage.
Goal: -
Reduces industrial emissions and avoids heavy EU carbon taxation penalties.
