Current vs. Proposed Rules
Current Rules: -
Parents of children born in the U.S. only need to show proof of parentage, provide a photo ID, and check a box indicating if they are U.S. citizens without submitting supporting documents.
Proposed Draft Guidance: -
Parents or legal guardians would need to hand over official documents to determine if the child is subject to Executive Order 14418 regarding birthright citizenship restrictions. 
Acceptable Documents Under the Proposal
Proof of Citizenship: -
A valid U.S. passport or birth certificate.
Proof of Immigration Status: An I-94 form or a legal permanent residency (green) card.
