How the Plant Works
Green Hydrogen: -
The facility uses renewable electricity (wind and hydropower) from the Lule River to split water into hydrogen.
Clean Reaction:-
 Instead of burning coal to remove oxygen from iron ore, the plant uses hydrogen.
Water Vapor: -
The chemical reaction releases harmless water vapor instead of carbon dioxide .
Lower Pollution: -
Traditional steelmaking emits about 2 tons of CO2 per ton of steel, while this method emits less than 200 kilograms. 
Partnerships and Support
Google Agreement:-
 Google announced a partnership detailed on the Google Sustainability Blog to purchase environmental attribute certificates for up to 91,000 metric tons of steel during the plant's first year. 
Market Impact: -
As highlighted by Interesting Engineering, early buyers help finance and scale this clean industrial technology even when physical delivery is constrained. 
Future Goals: -
The facility aims to ramp up production significantly, targeting 5 million tonnes of green steel annually by 2030.
