Key Project Details:
Location: -
Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh, designated as a National Green Hydrogen Hub.
Capacity: -
The project involves a 7GW electrolyser capacity designed to produce 2.5 million tonnes of green hydrogen-based chemicals annually, including ammonia and urea.
Partnership: +
NGEL (a subsidiary of NTPC) will supply green ammonia, renewable power, and capture CO2 cap C cap O sub 2 ๐ถ๐‘‚2 to Assago Industries for urea production.
Impact: -
The project supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) vision by aiming to decarbonize the fertilizer sector, which currently imports 8–10 million tonnes of urea annually.
This development is part of India's broader efforts to become a global hub for green hydrogen and ammonia, with other projects like the 1.5 million tonnes per annum plant in Kakinada also underway.
