Vessel Information:-
 The Ping Shun is an Aframax tanker, sanctioned by the U.S. in 2025, and was carrying approximately 600,000 barrels of Iranian crude.
Destination Change: -
The tanker was nearing India’s west coast (Vadinar, Gujarat) before changing its destination to China's Shan dong province.
Why It Was Diverted: -
The shift is believed to be caused by complex payment mechanisms and a shift toward needing upfront payments, rather than the earlier 30–60 day credit terms, according to K pler analysts.
Context: -
While the U.S. introduced temporary waivers for oil already at sea, logistical and insurance complexities have complicated imports.
Indian Situation:-
 India has not officially imported Iranian oil since 2019 following U.S. sanctions, relying instead on other suppliers. 
According to Kepler, although the vessel has updated its signal, it is possible for the destination to change again before arrival.
