Gujarat's record power demand of 576 MUs and 28,056 MW underscores its status as an industrial powerhouse. To sustain this massive scale of generation—where thermal power meets the majority of the load—the state is aggressively upgrading its transmission grid to prevent curtailment. 
To ensure a highly reliable supply for heavy industries and residential needs across the state, Gujarat is heavily expanding its transmission network: 
Target Capacity: -
State authorities are building a grid capable of supporting 56 GW of peak demand and 183 GW of installed capacity by 2034–35. 
Line Expansion:-
 The state will add 31,550 ckm (circuit kilometers) of transmission lines. 
Green Energy Goals: -
This grid build-out directly supports India's renewable targets, enabling massive Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia hubs. 
 India's peak power demand touched 265.8 GW on May 26, 2026, during solar hours at 3:46 PM. ⚡ Peak demand during non-solar hours stood at 249.9 GW. ⚡Total generation.
